The St. Paul Winter Carnival is selling itself — one block of ice at a time.

For the third year in a row, folks can purchase “stock in a block” to help support the festival’s ice-carving contest.

Blocks are selling for $124 — in honor of the carnival’s 124th year — and come with a certificate of ownership. The first 124 people to buy blocks also can march through downtown in the 2010 Grande Day Parade on Jan. 23.
