The St. Paul Winter Carnival stretched from its usual 11 days to 17 this year, which means more time to take in the activities. Families have an extra incentive to get out and get into the Carnival: The St. Paul Family Bowl Passport.
Through Feb. 10, download the Family Bowl Passport or cut it out of the Pioneer Press. Families who bring the passport to at least three visits at participating organizations are eligible to win prizes. The passports are available in English, Spanish, Somali and Hmong. Printed copies of the passport will be present at some organizations.
Participating locations include James J. Hill House, Landmark Center, Minnesota Children’s Museum, Minnesota History Center, St. Paul Public Library, St. Paul Winter Carnival, Science Museum of Minnesota, Twin Cities PBS (TPT), Vulcan Snow Park, Wells Fargo WinterSkate, Como Park Zoo and Conservatory, and YMCA of the Greater Twin Cities.
Another layer of Passport family fun features the popular mobile game, Pokémon GO. On Feb. 3, the locations of the Family Bowl Passport will also include outdoor Pokéstops, giving players a new way to interact with Winter Carnival festivities.
Many participating organizations offer Winter Carnival button discounts. Families making three or more visits to locations can send in their Passport to be entered in a prize drawing. Prize packs include annual memberships at various attractions, free birthday parties, swag baskets, a giraffe feeding experience and more.
