The 70-foot ice palace featured in St. Paul’s Winter Carnival is scheduled to be lit tonight at 6:45.

Prior to the ceremony, visitors can travel along the Moon Glow Pedestrian Parade to kick off the 17-day carnival and finish at Rice Park to see the lighting. Live entertainment and featured groups will perform.

The parade begins at 6 p.m. at the corner of Sixth and Robert streets and proceeds toward Rice Park. The lighting ceremony will take place from 6:45-7 p.m. The Winter Carnival ends on Feb.10.

An added bonus: Visitors can take in the grandeur of the 4,000-block ice palace while keeping their eyes peeled for the fish frozen within the palace walls.
