Again the medallion hunt has begun
A time for families to have some fun
Together you will find this little treasure
And in your hearts it will last forever
So grab the family
And take a walk
Look around
Every tree and rock
I can’t be on private land
You see
I have been placed in a park
One of many
Thank you to Cy’s
For their donation
So I have been hidden downtown
In a great location
Did you know? Chaska was officially incorporated as
a village in 1871

In a park
Is where I’ll be found
But there is so many
Choices around
So where I am hidden
I have to say
You can hear the children
Run, laugh, and play
It is full of people
Many days a week
For the enjoyment of summer
Is what they seek
So take a trail
And look real close
For I will be sitting
Right under your nose
Did you know ? Among the earliest settlers was
Thomas Andrew Holmes who, in August 1851,
Claimed a 20 acre clearing as the Chaska townsite

On summer days
Without a cloud
One can hear
The cheer of a crowd
They have come together
To spend their time
Playing the great
American pastime
But hidden I am not
Where they can see
For a medallion hunt
Is what it be
Did you know ? The name “Chaska” is derived from
A Dakota word often given as a name to the first born male child

Joy in the world
Should never end
And there is one great joy
Man’s best friend
You take them for walks
To the dog park to play
Giving this family member
A wonderful day
So as your walking
Your pet so dear
Take a closer look
For I am near
Did you know ? An abundance of high quality clay
Led to the start of brick making in 1857. By the 1880’s,
As a result of the clay resources, Chaska was a
Thriving brick manufacturing center

As Chaska has grown
This place has not
There are many adults
Who remember this spot
As old trees grow
Reaching towards the sky
Sit down have a picnic
Watch the people walk by
When your done with lunch
Have a look and see
There are many hidden places
Where I could be
Did you know ? Throughout the first half of the century,
Chaska’s population averaged about 2,000, and the nature
of the city remained unchanged

Up and down
And all around
Is where these kids
Will be found
They race around
Without a rest
To see in the end
Who is the best
As I watch the kids circle
Around in a lap
I believe it’s a Pump track
As a matter of fact
Did you know ? Hawks Ridge mountain bike course,
at the corner of Audubon Rd. and Pioneer trail,
began construction in 2017

And as this medallion hunt
Comes to a end
I will tell you exactly where I lay
My friend
Near a pump track
In a grove of old trees
Is a hidden place
Where you will find me
But don’t discourage
And look all around
For in a rabbit hole
Is where I’ll be found
Did you know ? The three burial mounds located in
City square park date back 1000 – 1500 years ago
