2015 Jordan Heimatfest Medallion Hunt
Primary tabs
Cheer up, now! The time has come
To hunt for gold ‘til day is done.
This summer still has weeks to run
You’ll have lots of time for fun.
Here’re the rules for finding it,
And by “it” I mean this bit:
The coin is heavy and quite big
But rest assured you needn’t dig.
Fixed twixt surface and the sky,
It can’t be hidden up too high.
It must rest in adult’s reach
We don’t want a faller’s screech!
It is found on public land,
And on this we firmly stand.
Not in pond or stream or lake,
From dry ground this gold do take.
If you follow up these laws,
Hunt in town, we say, because
Someone will no doubt be wise
And will find a pleasing prize.
If that someone reads the disk
He or she will take no risk
But bring it to the city hall,
Claim the loot and have a ball.
Here are the rules – in doggerel form – for this year’s Heimatfest Medallion hunt:
July sun sure seemed to scorch
Stars were out; no need for torch
Wait for dark upon my porch
Now print rules so you can search
Heavy, big, and gold tone round
Etched with info, we’ll be bound
Inside city limits found
Above, not under, Jordan ground
Easy reach, not top of tree
Nor any pole that one can see
Reached on land, so water free
No pond or stream, which we’ll agree
Always hid on public plat
Not on lawns, if hill or flat
Nor business land, we’ll see to that
Resting there has no éclat
Your reward for finding same
Jordan dollars, local fame
Join in this fun hunting game
You’ll be glad your family came
