It’s that time of year again and we missed you too!
The medallion hunt is back through and through.
As always, public land on Castles Site is where you need to stay
To get through the mountains of clues at bay.
Explanation:
This clue tells us that the medallion is on public land in North St. Paul (which was once known as Castle’s Site). It also gives us a little more information than the first clue usually does. “ The mountains of clues” is a reference to the mound of snow placed in front of the Snowman for Snow Frolics.

North or South is where we begin,
The direction we go is the direction it’s in.
The lake or downtown, we have recreation galore,
Castle had a 520 trade plan when he settled this town.
Explanation:
This clue advises us what side of the highway that the medallion is on (the south side). The “520 trade plan” refers to the original land purchase that Henry Castle made in 1872 that began his “vision” of the town of North St. Paul. Trade is a synonym for business, thus referring to the Downtown district of town.

His children’s paths cross where you need to go.
They’ve left their mark here though they were gone long ago.
Not all of them were named, just a few to be sure,
But one of the four can take you by there.
Explanation:
This clue lets us know that the medallion is on one of the roads named after Castle’s children. Henry Street is names after Henry Castle, and not one of his children, so the line “one of the four” refers to four daughters, which in turn narrows it down to Helen Street or Margaret Street. (Henry Castle had seven children: Harry, James, Charles, Helen, Margaret, Ann, and Mary.)

Bethel did it that’s for sure
On the heels of Yamagata’s door.
They must have heard of our music man
To take a stab at our enduring plan.
Explanation:
This clue is all about the snowman. Both Bethel, Maine and Yamagata, Japan built the worlds largest snowman. However, they were made out of snow, unlike our “enduring” snowman. The “music man” refers to the speakers that are in our snowman’s black buttons. It is said that “back in the day” when the speakers worked, they used to play music that was heard on Seventh Avenue.

The final day is here and it’s time for the last clue
This time of year, it’s Central Park for you.
But wait! What’s that? It’s over there to be true!
Nestled in the snow, just waiting for you.
Explanation:
The Central Park site included the land that is now called Cannon Park. Central Park was much larger than Cannon Park, but when Highway 36 was built it took land that had been park, and the park was then renamed Cannon Park This clue first points us in that direction, but then to the public land location across the highway (It’s over there to be true). The medallion was hidden in the snow mound just in front of the Snowman at the intersection of Margaret Street and Highway 36.
